Ā mātou mahi

Our work

We are one of fifteen Iwi-Māori Partnership Boards across the motu representing mana whenua and taurahere perspectives on hauora.

Moemoeā | Vision

We want whānau of our rohe to redefine what ‘health, healing and wellbeing’ means to us.

We will support whānau, hapū, iwi, health care and healing providers and the wider community to reconnect with a holistic, all-of-iwi view of hauora and oranga.

“Oranga whenua, oranga wai, oranga whānau.”

A place to stand, a place to connect, a place to belong. Join us on a journey to build the health and wellbeing of our land, our waterways, and our families.

As an Iwi-Māori Partnership Board we help strengthen the influence of Māori values and tikanga within the wider health system.

The purpose of the Āti Awa Toa Hauora Partnership Board is to represent local mana whenua and taurahere perspectives on hauora on:

  • Our needs and aspirations for our hauora.

  • The health sector’s performance.

  • Service design and delivery in our rohe.

Representing those perspectives means amplifying the voices of whānau in our rohe. We want to be confident that your priorities and needs are reflected in the way services are provided across the region.

We currently represent two iwi, and three rūnanga:

In the coming months we will work with Te Whatu Ora to map which areas come under the maihi of each of the 15 Iwi-Māori Partnership Boards around the motu.

Strengthening Tino Rangatiratanga

As an Iwi-Māori Partnership Board (IMPB) we help strengthen the influence of Māori values and tikanga within the wider health system.

This is an important part of fulfilling Te Tiriti o Waitangi, as it helps ensure everyone has the same access to good health outcomes.

The work of the IMPBs also strengthens mana motuhake for whānau – supporting families to take control of their own health, healing and wellbeing.
